Dear EI Community,
Thank you for supporting us this month to amplify the voices of survivors and deliver empowering education to young people on healthy relationships, sexual well-being and rape culture.
Despite the many challenges schools face, we are heartened by the passion our team witnesses in school communities nationwide. We are inspired by the bravery of survivors who continue to share their experiences; they are the voices at the heart of our mission, forming the uplifting spirit of our growing community.
As we reflect on the past month, we extend our hearts and thoughts to all those suffering during these times of humanitarian crisis.
“Be careful not to lose empathy for those with whom you disagree. Be careful not to dehumanise others. Doing so dehumanises you.
Do not lose touch with the parts you needed most: your compassion, your humanity, your care”
- Esther Perel
Education
The EI education programme was launched in September 2022; since then, we are proud to have visited over 80 schools, reaching over 14,400 pupils and over 6,300 staff members.
This October, we got back into the swing of things, rolling out our programme across the U.K. Alex (Head of Facilitation) and Maz (facilitator) delivered our ‘Rise of the Online Misogynist’ training to over 4,000 students in Exeter. A new workshop on ‘Internalised Misogyny’ was developed and delivered for an all-girls school in southwest London.
Other highlights include exploring violence in relationships at the Youth Endowment Funds online learning cafe and delivering online specialist staff training to RSHE leads across Durham County.
Survivor Safe Space
As we enter a new season, we continue to receive a high number of testimonies every day from all over the world. On the one hand, it reminds us that rape culture is still pervasive and deeply entrenched in society, but on the other, it spurs us on to continue the work we do, providing a voice for survivors.
If you believe in our mission and are interested in supporting the processing of the testimonies, please email dania@everyonesinvited.uk to learn more about joining our volunteer team.
Online Community
With the new school year underway this month, we've been using our Instagram page to take you behind the scenes with the Everyone’s Invited Education Team. Alex vlogged a busy few days of teaching at schools and universities in the south-west. We also marked World Mental Health Day on the 10th of October, a day to raise advocacy and awareness against social stigma.
And finally, in the news…
Warmly,
The Everyone’s Invited Team
